Emergency Plumbing in Johnson City, TN

A burst pipe at midnight or a drain backing up before guests arrive does not wait for business hours. Roto-Rooter dispatches technicians 24/7, 365 days a year - so the call you make at 2 a.m. gets the same response as one made at noon on a Tuesday.

Plumbing emergencies escalate fast. A small supply line failure can soak cabinetry and subfloor within the hour. A main sewer backup that starts in one fixture spreads to every low drain in the house. The faster a technician arrives to shut off the source and diagnose the problem, the less damage compounds.

When you call 423-397-7686, Roto-Rooter routes your request through a national dispatch network built to move quickly. The technician who arrives carries the diagnostic tools and equipment to address the most common emergency scenarios on the spot - from isolating a leak at the shutoff valve to clearing a main line blockage that has multiple fixtures backing up simultaneously.

Speed matters. So does getting the diagnosis right the first time. Roto-Rooter technicians follow a consistent, structured process: identify the source, contain the problem,...

I had a 50 year old clog in my pipes, other plumbers were unable to open. They said you are going to have to call Roto-Rooter to come. It ... took us three visits, but they found a way to clear all my pipes without destroying the tile work in the bathroom or cutting through the cement slab. They persevered with the job until it was solved with the least amount of damage. Then they guaranteed their work. It was a very professional job. I was most impressed with their integrity.

We have had another septic company here twice and a plumber and yet our septic problem continued. Totally stressef and overwhelmed i prayed that God would bring us the person ... that would resolve or know how to resolve our issue. Then arrives Bob—gets right to work and finds exactly what our problem is and will be back to fix it. He took the time to find out exactly what was causing the issue and wanted the job done right! Thanking God for sending us Bob!

Danny came to pump out our septic tank and identified a clog farther back. Billy came back out later to remove the clog. They were both personable, ... knowledgeable and friendly. We'll use them again and appreciate their work.

AMAZING service!! Called because of an odor, had no idea where my tank was, a great guy by the name of 'Bob' (Robert) and his co-worker came out the same ... day to review my set up. They showed up the next day, as promised, with all the appropriate equipment and completed the job in under 3 hours. They were friendly, courteous, clean, and forgave my beastly dogs who had to 'supervise' constantly. I have had several BAD experiences with remodeling/construction type issues recently and was completely blown away by your crew. No joke, Roto Rooter will be the first place I call in the spring when I need the rest of my work completed. Thank you so much!!

Plumbing problems tend to announce themselves in predictable ways - a drain that slows over weeks, a water heater that starts making noise, a toilet that runs long after the tank should be full. Recognizing those signals early is the difference between a straightforward repair and a much larger one.

Recognizing those signals early is the difference between a straightforward repair and a much larger one.

Kitchen drains clog from the gradual layering of cooking grease that cools and solidifies on the pipe wall. Bathroom drains collect hair bound with soap scum just past the P-trap. When multiple fixtures back up at the same time, the blockage is almost always in the main sewer line rather than at the individual fixture. Roto-Rooter technicians trace the backup to its actual location before clearing it - so the fix addresses the root cause, not just the symptom.

Sediment buildup on the tank bottom causes rumbling noises and reduces heating efficiency over time. A failing anode rod lets corrosion attack the tank wall from the inside. A malfunctioning pressure relief valve creates a safety concern that goes beyond comfort. Each of these issues has a distinct diagnostic path - and catching them before a full failure avoids an unplanned cold-water morning.

Low water pressure across the whole house points toward a supply issue, a failing pressure reducing valve, or a hidden leak pulling flow away from fixtures. A pressure reducing valve regulates incoming pressure to a safe household range - when it fails, pressure swings in both directions. Roto-Rooter technicians use moisture meters and visual inspection to trace leaks behind walls and under slabs before they become structural problems.

Frequently Asked Questions in Johnson City

Roto-Rooter operates 24/7, 365 days a year, including nights, weekends, and holidays. A burst pipe or a main line backup does not wait for business hours, and neither does dispatch. Call 423-397-7686 any time to reach Roto-Rooter in Johnson City, TN and get a technician on the way.

My refrigerator's ice maker line is leaking behind the unit - can a plumber fix that?

A failed ice maker supply line is a plumbing connection, and it can drip slowly behind the refrigerator for weeks before the water becomes visible. Roto-Rooter inspects the line, the shutoff valve, and the fitting at the wall to find where the leak originates. Replacing a worn line or a failing valve stops the drip before it causes damage to the floor or subfloor beneath.

Yes. Roots enter through hairline cracks at pipe joints, especially in older clay or cast iron sewer laterals. Once inside, they absorb moisture and expand, eventually causing recurring backups. The Roto-Rooter Machine cuts through root intrusion mechanically, and a sewer camera confirms how far the roots have spread. Hydro jetting follows to clear debris the cutting head leaves behind.

Hydro jetting pushes high-pressure water through the pipe to scour the interior wall, removing calcified grease, mineral scale, and root debris that a cable auger cannot fully cut. It is the right call when the same drain backs up repeatedly after standard augering, or when a camera inspection shows heavy buildup coating the pipe wall. The result is a clean pipe, not just a cleared path through the blockage.

When multiple toilets and drains are backing up at the same time, what is happening?

When backups happen across several fixtures simultaneously, the blockage is almost always in the main sewer line between the house and the city connection - not in any individual fixture. Running one fixture can push water out of another because there is nowhere for it to go. Roto-Rooter uses a sewer camera to confirm the location and extent of the blockage, then clears it with augering or hydro jetting.

The basement floor drain sits at the lowest point of the home's drainage system, so it is the first place water surfaces when the main line is slowing down. A washing machine dumps a large volume of water quickly, overwhelming a partially blocked main line. The backup you see at the floor drain is a symptom of a deeper clog, not a problem with the drain itself. Roto-Rooter clears the main line to resolve it.

That rumbling usually means sediment has settled on the tank floor. As the burner heats water trapped beneath the sediment layer, it produces that knocking or popping sound. Left alone, sediment insulates the burner and forces it to work harder, shortening the tank's life. Roto-Rooter flushes the sediment, inspects the anode rod, and checks the pressure relief valve to restore normal operation.

When is it time to repipe instead of just fixing another leak?

Galvanized steel pipes corrode from the inside over time, narrowing the flow path and producing recurring pinhole leaks. When leaks keep appearing at different spots along the same line, patching them one at a time costs more than repiping. Roto-Rooter evaluates the pipe material and condition, then replaces corroded runs with copper or PEX - a lasting fix rather than a repeated patch job.

My toilet keeps running after it flushes - is that a big deal?

A running toilet typically means the flapper is worn or the fill valve is no longer sealing properly. Water runs continuously from the tank into the bowl, which adds up on a water bill faster than most homeowners expect. Roto-Rooter replaces the flapper, fill valve, or both depending on what the inspection finds. It is a straightforward repair that stops the waste immediately.

A sudden drop in pressure across every fixture usually points to a supply-side issue - a failing pressure reducing valve, a partially closed shutoff, or a leak somewhere in the main line. A Roto-Rooter technician tests pressure at multiple points to isolate the cause. If the pressure reducing valve has failed, replacing it brings household pressure back to a safe, consistent range.

Hidden leaks often show up as soft spots in drywall, discolored paint, or a water meter that keeps moving when every fixture is off. Roto-Rooter technicians trace these leaks using moisture meters and visual inspection, pinpointing the source before opening any wall. Early detection prevents structural damage from spreading. Call 423-397-7686 to schedule a leak inspection.

Roto-Rooter has been in business since 1935. That span of time produced something more durable than name recognition - it produced a standardized diagnostic and service process that a technician in any market follows the same way. Johnson City homeowners get the same structured approach that has defined the brand nationally for decades.

My toilet keeps running after it flushes - is that a big deal?

Johnson City homeowners get the same structured approach that has defined the brand nationally for decades.

That consistency matters when a plumbing problem is stressful. A uniformed Roto-Rooter technician arrives with a defined process: assess the situation, identify the source of the problem, explain the findings clearly, and proceed with the repair. No guessing, no upselling a service that does not fit the problem.

The dispatch network behind Roto-Rooter operates around the clock. A call to 423-397-7686 connects directly to that system - routing your request to a technician equipped for the job. Whether the issue is a main sewer line backup requiring the Roto-Rooter Machine and camera inspection, or a water heater that has stopped producing hot water, the same national service standard applies.
